Gloss Labels

A gloss finish has been a favorite for brands for over a decade. Providing a clinical finish, gloss is synonymous with cleanliness and hygiene, which for some products, is essential. There is also a growing trend with providing matt and gloss finishes on packaging. As consumer preference for all-natural and organic products grows, brands are turning to matt packaging coupled with gloss product labels to provide contrast.

A gloss label finish can be achieved with either a gloss varnish or gloss laminate, however, the decision of varnish or laminate requires careful consideration. Laminates are film overlays on top of the print to add an additional layer of print protection where the product may be subject to drips or spills whereas a varnish is in liquid form and doesn't offer the same level of print protection.
